In this adventurous tale of myth and legend Ro Fisher, a young boy from the fishing town of Stormness, finds a message in a bottle. The message in a bottle leads Ro on a voyage to not only find his father, who has recently been lost at sea but also to discover why his mother disappeared so many years ago.

Ro is compelled to find the lighthouse from the bedtime stories his father once told him, which he believes are real and tied to the message in a bottle, He senses he must unravel the mystery which surrounds it, and its ancient keeper Mortimer.

Ro makes some unlikely friendships along the ways and battles fearsome foes and dangerous seas before he makes it to the lighthouse.

Ultimately the lighthouse legend and lore Ro grew up with is not all as it appears, particularly when he realises just how closely the stories are wrapped up in his own family and their murky past.
